Every 911 owner has experienced a dead hood strut or a good hood strut overpowering the alignment of the rear deck lid or hood. I started building these mechanical struts about 10 years ago in very small quantities to end my own frustrations with gas charged struts. There is zero preload and the hood/truck is mechanically locked open when raised. These are machined and welded in house using 6061-T6 aluminum. We currently offer them front and rear for 1964-1989 911/912 and front only for 1990-1998 964/993. Prices are $75 each for the early cars and $85 each for 964/993 front struts(all prices plus postage). Order inquires can be directed to ntw@356racing.com

Short video of a front strut in action. I like to use them when doing body work to hold the hood in place without effecting the gaps when closed.
Here's a video showing how the mechanical struts are made.
